About

Zuri Awards is a platform under the Zuri Foundation and was founded in 2017 to recognise, celebrate, and support unsung exceptional women dedicated to creating positive change through work in their communities while inspiring others through exceptional displays of leadership, rising against all odds, and being courageous in the face of adversity. It’s part of the International Women’s Day Celebrations. The IWD 2025 theme is #AccelerateAction.

IWD is a global day that takes place every 8th of March and has occurred for over a century. The objective is to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and the day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity: imagining a gender-equal, inclusive world where difference is valued and celebrated. A world where we can collectively forge women’s equality starts with breaking the bias within ourselves in our communities, workplaces, schools, and campuses. Zuri Awards objectives are in line with the 5th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) on Gender Equality. Zuri Awards celebrations take place annually, with this year’s 9th edition taking place in March 2025.

In the last 8 years, Zuri Awards has increased the number of awards from 4 to 16 categories, attracting 1135 submissions, 241 Nominees, Honoreed 92 Women, 15 Trade Linkages, and raising over USD 350,000 for the nominees. Our impact has been possible through engagement with partners and sponsors like the Government, Developmental Partners, as well as Local and Multinational Brands.

Zuri Awards has been able to highlight the key successes of both nominees and honorees through a call for nomination, photography, digital storytelling, public exhibitions of their work, and above-the-line highlights of stories in the media.

Welcome to Zuri Awards 2025.
