Syombua A. Kibue is a sports Manager by profession. She joined the sports industry 4 years ago, she always says sports found her, her introduction to sports was though a friend who asked her to help him with hosting a football coaches training program here in Nairobi for a week, as she wasn’t doing anything at that time and had just quit my job, She said yes. That was the best decision she made.

Mildred Cheche Sports Nominee # ZuriAwards 2021 is a former professional football player with over a decade experience of active playing for the Mathare United and the Kenya Women National team –Harambee Starlets and Founder of Change Sports Organisation which nurtures young talent but also changes the lives of the community by addressing social issues such as drug abuse, unhealthy lifestyles, illiteracy and peer pressure.

Rael “Nyte” Otieno is a former Kenya international field hockey player (2001–2004) and passionate philanthropist who founded the Tunza Sports Academy in 2018. Motivated by her own journey out of poverty, she founded Tunza Sports Academy with the mission of breaking the cycle of poverty in rural Kenya by using high-performance sports ,especially field hockey and boxing as a platform for educational empowerment, community development, and youth mentorship .

Samira Schwarz is a warm-hearted and passionate youth football coach at Knights FC in Nairobi, where she dedicates herself to guiding young players especially boys and girls from underprivileged communities through the beautiful game. What began as a fun way to bond with her own son has blossomed into a purposeful mission: to help children grow into responsible, confident adults. In the five months since joining the academy, she’s already made a tangible impact, approaching each training session not just with drills and tactics, but with empathy, encouragement, and the belief that every child deserves support and opportunity .

Off the pitch, Samira is a natural mentor, using football as a platform to teach resilience, teamwork, and determination. She dreams of enhancing her coaching skills and sharing them with her players, bringing hope and structure to their lives. Whether she’s celebrating a well-executed pass or consoling a disappointed child, Samira approaches every moment with kindness and commitment. Through her dedication at Knights FC, she’s not just nurturing athletes she’s nurturing the next generation.

Ann Irura-Anita is a passionate advocate for disability inclusion in sports and the founder of Golden Tee Inclusive Golf, a community-based organization in Kenya that champions the inclusion of persons with disabilities in golf. With over nine years of experience working with children with special needs, Anita has dedicated her efforts to providing training, organizing clinics and tournaments, and creating playing opportunities for differently-abled golfers locally and internationally.

Susan Njoki #ZuriAwards 2023 Sports is a sports for development practitioner at KSSA and an advanced football coach at Kahawa Pride Fc.She is the co-founder of Mea na Mimea project that is conducted under KSSA.She is also a Bundesliga Youth Ambassador and in 2019 she was among the 16 coaches selected in Africa by World Remit for Arsenal Future Stars Program. Kahawa Sports & Social Alliance (KSSA) as an idea was conceived in 2005. Since its inception, it has been recognized as a pivotal component in ensuring the success and growth of football in Roysambu constituency as it was the only Soccer Academy before becoming the only Sports for Development organization.

Phoebe is a degree holder in Exercise and Sports science and a Multisport Coach for kids. Founder of The Ambassador’s ladies cup that aims at creating a level playing field where every girl has the opportunity to create a better future for themselves by offering them a platform to showcase their talents in a safe and supportive space, address issues affecting females in sports(Gender inequality) and ensuring girls see sports as a viable career path for them through mentorship by females in the sports industry.
