Elizabeth Njambi is the driving force behind Wakili.sha Initiative, a nonāprofit dedicated to ensuring children in conflict with the law in Kenya receive free legal representation, mentorship, and advocacy. Her passion for justice was born during her time at the University of Nairobiās legal aid clinic, where she witnessed firsthand how poverty and unstable family backgrounds severely limited young peopleās access to justice. That experience, combined with her win in the prestigious HiiL Innovative Justice Challenge, inspired her to launch Wakili.shaānamed from āwakili,ā Swahili for lawyer ,to bring legal empowerment into juvenile justice
But Elizabethās approach goes beyond courtroom advocacy. She views each child as more than a case file hence through Wakili.shaās rehabilitative programs, she offers mentorship, talent development, and ongoing support within juvenile correctional centers. She also hosts theāÆWakili.sha Podcast, where she and her team share real stories from youth, parents, and justice actors, blending hard truths with moments of lighthearted connection . Elizabethās mission is deeply personal: transforming the justice system into one that sees children through lenses of empathy, potential, and restoration, not stigma.
