Dr. Chao Mbogo is the Program Lead and Co-Founder of KamiLimu, which is a 6-month structured mentorship program for Computer Science University students.
KamiLimu aims at immersing students into the local tech industry and also encouraging them to give back to the community through the skills their acquire. KamiLimu has achieved a 46% female representation of their mentorship program;15 students who were beneficiaries of the first cohort became peer mentors in the second cohort; 25 industry professionals, from companies such as Google and Andela, have contributed their time and skills to the program; 3 female mentees in the program received international scholarships after undergoing training on writing award-winning scholarship essays. KamiLimu is directly impacting its mentees by contributing to their profession, making them globally competitive…
Carolyne Nyambura of HELD Sister Foundation attends to cancer patients, cancer caregivers and people wanting to live a healthy lifestyle.
The foundation also provides psychosocial support to those facing cancer and their caregivers. HELD Sister Foundation has managed to screen more than 6,000 women for cervical cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, hypertension and BMI in 14 different counties in the last 4 years since their inception . They have also directly and indirectly educated approximately 50,000 men and women from both rural & urban areas on cancer prevention and management as well as the role of nutrition in diseases prevention & management. In addition, they have mentored more than 2,000 school going youths and 1,000 children with special needs.
Since its inception in 2015, The Kesho Alliance has been fighting for quality education,especially for the girl child in Garissa county.
Their day to day activities include; holding youth forums and dialogues, distribution of sanitary pads,offering mentorship programs and conducting lots of research on their dynamic society. The Kesho Alliance have been working towards the implementation and advocacy for the 2/3 gender rule in Garissa county, land ownership for women and more women participation in leadership. The Kesho Alliance pioneered the Student to STudent Sponsorship (S2S) that aims at providing monetary and mentorship aid to needy students across the country; it is a foundation of the students, by the students and for the students..
She is also the Regional Ambassador in Kenya for Technovation challenge under the Women in Technology program..
Tec novation challenge aim is to inspire girls to see themselves not just as users of technology, but as inventors, designers, builders and entrepreneurs who can solve real – world problems through technology. Through this program Anne has mentored and coached over 2000 girls into becoming mobile app developers by imparting basics of coding, user – interface design, market research, entrepreneurship and presentation skills.

The Center trains and mentors the beneficiaries on life skills and entrepreneurial aspects which include fashion & design, computer literacy, modelling, and naturing the female football talent.Since its inception in 2011, Uwezo Girls Empowerment Center has impacted over 15,000 beneficiaries.; for instance their female football team, the Amani Queens, has produced footballers that have been selected for to play for regional and national league teams. The Kesho Alliance believes that the responsibility of ensuring a gender-balanced society is a collective role, which starts with equipping women with the much needed knowledge, skills and abilities to undertake roles assumed to be only for men.
